Hey Guys! First of all, let me say congrats on the business and website...I just saw Shawn in my store (I'm sure he'd rather be in the woods!) and he told me about the website. It looks great! If you have any interest in being involved in wildlife food plot seminars in conjunction with Richard Caruso (NH Chapter QDMA) and West Lebanon Supply...let's talk! I had Brad Lockwood from Love of the Hunt (Mossyoak-Biologic) at last seminar and wish to continue promoting his product line here at the store. We are currently planning another seminar for August. This could be a great opportunity to branch out in other directions for you guys and get you more "visibility". I just finished an interview with Henry Homeyer from Valley News and when he writes any article people listen. The article should break soon. It will cover Wildlife food plots for landowners.Cheers! awsome maybe we can look foward to the posting of more land by selfish hunters. QDMA is a joke the only concern is big racks and me only hunting. Great promotion.

Steve it was great seeing you and yes we have considered talking about food plot seminars at the shows, we have seen the seminars at some of our other shows and it was a nice to see how it to helps keep deer herds healthy, i know from my own experience that there was a well known local food plotter and I know many of our pro staffers have havested many nice bucks, and many more real healthy does miles and miles away in all directions it apppears these parcells can only hold so many deer and they move out when that number is capped, specially good bucks go on search for does and leave the dominating bucks to their herd, anyone that takes that much time, money and effort to take care of there acerage will only help our local deer heard. My food plot has always been a public accorn patch or a thick swamp or maybe if im a lucky a wild apple tree hidden in the woods, so i havnt seen the results of food plots first hand i have only been lucky enough to harvest some good animals miles and miles away in the same peice of land where im sure there was some

bone how can you defend a practice that would rip you apart for killing the jake that you got this year or the spike you shot last year? At least that is my take on the QDM folks. How can the future of hunting be in their hands when T/C gametrails is the largest tract of prive land in kentucky and it is designed to keep other hunters out unless you are one of the kings men so to speak you dont see trout unlimited fixing rivers with money they raise and then keeping fishermen out or how about ducks unlimited i belong to them and dont even duck hunt but the hundreds of millions that have been spent on keeping wetland wetlands and not highways helps me as a deer hunter, they dont post the land they have bought so again i will tell you that QDM is for the self involved, 0 skill hunter who cant find game so he has to bring it to him and make it easy and doesnt want to have any competition so he keeps other folks out. Right now federal goverment is trying to make it so that you will not be able to hunt the white mountain national forest then from the other side you have our hunting brothers?, buying and posting land. Where will the farther of three hunt one day if all the land is taken away? Sorry bone i dig what you do but we agree to disagree on this one

From what I have seen anywhere in NH i know of..If they are getting into QDM it has already been posted for years anyways. Hunters buy land so THEY have a place to hunt. If I could afford to buy a big chunk I would do it too..Am I jealous of the guy who does it? YES.. Do I think plots are wrong?No..If any of the people with under a certain amount of land is planting it is only helping me..You can only sit that plot so many times before every deer knows it. Then as we know in NE they are headed for the hills. And thats where the hard core guys will already be. Just be happy Ritz went to Kentucky and bought all that land and not NH..LOL People with BIG money looking for land go to the midwest..If they are looking for easy hunting they are not buying here.. Thats my thought..Either way, I will keep shooting good deer..

I've been shooting small Buck and Jakes for years..I'll never stop..I've also shot some Monsters and Long-Long Birds..My Friends and Hunting Brothers that practice QDM have never once given me crap about shooting a spike..or for that matter called it a joke..they support my hunts..my style..and share in all my harvests..from gutting them out...miles and miles in the hills.. to savoring the necture of nature.. the HEART par-boiled and lightly fried with some butter...garlic ..onion..sorry my mouth is watering..I am so full of NE and the prowless needed to be consistant..my code is as thick as any..ask the guys I hunt with..I am lucky enough to know some of the best Woodsmen in the world..Now we have the oppertunity to share with the kings what we do..what our life is..and belive me.. my LIFE is Buck Hunting..Guys buying up land and Postin it is only fule for me to hike farther and hunt harder..Thats the REAL DEAL..I like Arman don't have a hundred acres..Why do you think folks really post their land..Uasually the privi to be on their land has been abused by a bad apple or 2..I don't belong to any clubs maybe I should..After serving in the Marines most clubs seem well clubs..I'd rather be in the woods than talking bout being in the woods..it's the true hunt for me and most my Brothers..but lets not put those down that Hunt differently then we do..The Gents that run the QDMA here are good guys..Ive met them at shows..Never have they uttered ME as a joke or shamed my Spike Buck..Only praised what we are standig for..and shake their heads with amaze-ment at how hard we hunt..Don't panic yet man..I will not loose my NE Hunting integraity but I would not call anyone..anywhere in our great nation-even Texas hunters a joke.I do not feel the need to call them out..I'm gonna show them what Hunting Buck means to us Old School..Hard Core..Kodiak Chewin..Half-wits that have dedacated their lives to hunting the 3 Buck that live in the state..and love every second of not seeing crap for days and days..but would never sit on a green piece planted or not..I don't even hunt feilds..but I respect others enough not to put them down or say they have no-skills.. WE can agree to disagree but lets be respectful to all..call me a hammer-head if you'd like but lets not bash folks we no little about..My brother Chris Aldridge practices QDM and is the one of the most skilled woodsmen I know and belive me I would't want him hunting me on the top of Sunapee.. Thanks for keeping it cool Bone

none taken Shawn..RDP is all about gents like yourself that hunt in a style that is truly difficult..demanding..physically and mentally and the reason we do it day in and out even escapes the hardest of core..until he hikes anouther ridge to find that sacred... secret... honey hole....all the scouting..shinning..skipping of work.. then makes sence..for some it's the challange.. we push the envalope of everything further and further..time.. effort..sacrafice..to rise to the challange of hunting Buck in their world..not only that but hunting very few Buck in their world..lol

One thing that i want to make clear is that i do not make a habbit of judging or insulting people to cure my boredom. I am bitching about this because i see every night when i turn on the t.v where the hunting dollars are taking the future of our past time. Bone thats great that you have had that ability to spend that much time with great woodsmen, enjoy it, it is a dieing art. I see our uncle ted shooting deer in heated box blinds useing c'mere dear and saying that people with opinions like my own are idiots. Then i watch SOME QDM supporters talk about other hunters like the have no buisness being in the same county as them because they dont share their beliefs such as bob faulkrod or maybe keith warren or the lakowskys, then i state my opinion of my beliefs and out comes the pitchforks and lynchmob. Think of the title itself QUALITY DEER managment, i thought all WILDLIFE should be thought of as quality, farming deer is just ignorant in so many ways but again it comes back to the instant gratification that i guess is needed today. How many of these kids that you see on these shows are really learning anything? I spoke with Lane Benoit in april about this he too felt that the kids are being cheated they are not learning any skills about why or how, just dont let the box blind window squeak when you slide it to shoot the "MANAGMENT BUCK" lesson here plant good lettuce and beans and carry plenty of wd40 (for squeeky window). I saw a show where faulkrod, larry wieshoun and a couple of other "profesional hunters" had to hunt on the ground and they were bitching even though they were on private land that the particular spot they had drawn sucked because it abbutted some PUBLIC land. One of them also used his tag to kill a deer that had" been shot by an unethical hunter" coming from the public land, but when i see a deer all beat up on private land he has gotten his ass kicked by another deer cause everyone in these private areas do everything textbook. My point i tryed to make bone, was every time i watch a show today public land hunters are torn up, and its not me doing it. Generaly it is someone who is representing QDM practices so if i form as strong of an oppinion of them as they do of me on their shows how is it i become at fault or even disrepectful to them.I understand it was not the fella that made this post, but it is a represenitive of that practice and organization, you can bet your best riffle that if i disagreed with someones practices or how they were representing an organization i would not belong to it. Also not trying to recruit you for any clubs just using those two as examples and good ones at that i think, and thanks for joining the greatest club of all the U.S milatary, your service is appreciated without guys like yourself i wouldnt live in a country where i could only have to worry about this to bitch about. Your not the first to tell me i have to back them up because they are hunters, sorry not going to fly until that is a two way street. Read this thread and judge as you may but open your eyes at what else you see on these shows other than a bunch of people piling up booners and tell me this is a positive perspective of ALL hunters or just the ones who practice QDM. I did notice your sourness of the texas boys your trying to be politicly correct but there is a state that has gone 92% private for deerhunting, i cant even watch that crap anymore. Feeders everywhere, hell one show had a truck driving down a road with corn falling out behing it deer everywhere and some clown makes a 400 yard walk up the edge of the road kills a 170 and cant stop telling the camera what a hunt it was. C'MON do i really need to take that any further other than to point out thats another ranch using QDM. READY.......AIM...........FIRE!!!!!!!!!

Shawn ..First off this is one of the only threads I subscribe to...I'M not fond of typing... nor am I an x-pert by any means on much.. your point is the whole reason we started filming.. is not only valaid..but well spoken for all of us that have lost jobs..wives..savings..to HUNT BUCK the way our fore fathers did..This is def not about me or Armand..IT'S WAY BIGGER THAN THAT..I ONLY HOPE TO GIVE A ACCURATE..VERY REAL REPRESENTATION OF A TRUE NEW ENGLAND DEER HUNTER..SO KIDS AND VIEWERS WILL SEE OUR DEAL AND WHAT WE STAND FOR AS NE SPORTSMEN..I stopped watching hunting on tv a while ago..your absolutilty correct..corn dropping from a feeder while you cruse around on scafolding shooting deer..We Hunt deer..there is a big difference..belive me Shawn if anybody were to come in here and call your heritage..time..effort..sacrifices a joke they would def get the same..is what we mostly see a positive perspective or a true rep of what we know..To me it's so for-ren they might as well be hunting on MARZ..so I cut my hunting time in half..spend thousands of dollars..hundredes of hours..sacrafice stuff that you couldn't even imagine..to make sure the world will know this side of Deer Hunting..then they can make their own conclusion on how they wish to get it on...to walk past that planted field...to challange the Buck on his terms..sign..and spook..To battle weather..boredom..deer depression.. bosses..wives..posters..target panic when a ..yes a deer finally shows up..!!! Thanks again for keeping it respectful and sharing your thoughts..I will allways support my NE brothers no matter what or how they hunt..this is what I belive seperates us from the rest of the planet..and why I choose to live and hunt here..The Benoits are the greates Buck hunters on the face of the earth hands down..they should have their own CHANNEL...The Marketing...Media..Money have def changed the game..we farm COWS..So ya know..I charish every second I spend in the woods scouting with Danhue..or Listing to Mayo quietly talk stradigity..I pick Panax's brain every chance I get..because I respect their proweless..and place as NE deer hunting LEDGENS..Old School..It is my privaledge to represent what I have been so grace-ish lee..taught and I feel it's my oblagation to support the Local guy's that help our herd by getting them through the winter...Headed to Bradford to scout my favorite food plot..fresh grown and watered clear cut..I'm not sure we will end up like Texas or other states that are mostly managed land..specially with guys like you all over it..Remember when the state tried to pass a helmet law..live free or die..has never rang more true..We gotta stick togther if we hunt plots on privet land or the swamps of Salibury..just as New Englanders man...When I shot my Spike last year I turned to the camera and said..and I quote myself..Today I was on a managenment hunt..If I MANAGE to see a Buck I'm shooting it..Hope we can get some more good threads out of ya....Thanks

I agree with what Bone says no one wants to watch this crap they have on the outdoor channel or even espn outdoors what kind of hunt is it hunting under a feeder or off the back of a truck I love what you guys represent here at Real Deal that's what it is the real deal no fences, feeders, or foolin around, good work guys! I can't believe that anyone would put down QDM whether it's planting food plots or passing up on spikes everyone has the right to make there own decision on the quality of hunt that they are looking for and if my neighbor wants to plant a food plot awesome anything to help our wildlife and our bucks get big just because someone plants a food plot dosen't mean that they are a good hunter or are even going to get a deer this is New England I appreciate anyone that practices QDM but would never look down on someone because they shot the first deer they saw this year even if it had one horn 3" long we work to hard here just to see deer that's why I appreciate Bones style of hunting it's not for me but I also don't have a camera in my hands half of the season keep up the good work RDP

Wow! Didn't expect to touch-off such a "hotbed" subject! The thread is great and it's good you consider all sides of the story. For those of you who don't know...I am a hunter first and foremost, however in my younger years I was a Federal Warden. I have a degree in Wildlife Management and minor in Law Enforcement. I consider guys like yourselves to be the knowledge base for what's happening out there in the world of hunting, not me. I don't envy you having to deal with an unreceptive public who has had one or two bad experiences with some wingnut who came from outta' state for the weekend hunt and left a huge impact on some landowner by leaving trash and shooting across his field at "his" deer...and then posting his property, right? But, I can help you spread the word of those of us who seek to educate hunters and non-hunters alike who simply want to pass on the tradition and leave a legacy to our sons and daughters so they too might enjoy the thrill that the outdoors and hunting have to offer. Isn't that what it's really all about? So, I'll keep you posted on when and where. The invite is still there...cause' you guys ARE "The Real Deal...!!" (Had to say that!) LOLp.s. Doug, still working on the herbicide that begins with V to use in wildlife food plots that won't kill clover or chicory, get back to soon! Steve Bingel

bone i know what it is like to become attached to your favorite woolies but i had to cut mine loose last season. i tried to get johnsons to fix them but she is not a big fan of hunters believe it or not, thats a long story i wont get into, so i decided i was going to spend the money on beagle. THAT STUFF IS THE CATS MEOW!!! if any of you have to buy new wool and can justify the cost i wouldnt think twice. i hunted last year all day in pouring rain circling a ridge top in the hemlocks hoping to find a big boy taking a nap, when i got to the truck the t- shirt i was wearing was a bit damp of sweat but the jacket never leaked through, as you can probably gather from me if i dont like something no issue here of yapping about it. It a great product check it out. One thing that made the choice to spend the money easier on me was the logic that you dont buy a gun that works sometime or last a little while. this stuff wears pretty well also.

Don thats a strong acusation about that family to make, i dont have a horse in this race and certainly not qualified to defend those guys....but the fotage i have seen is all in daylight hours and them fellas seem pretty skillful to me, damn near the best i would think,i certainly would not want to be chasing some tail and not paying attention to my back track. not only is there skill unreal but the footage they capture sneaking up on dear in their beds hauling a cameraman is happened to many times to credit it to luck. You take hal bloods video..... very good for the conditions they are hunting in and the style they are hunting but the footage is not great by any means, and thats no cut on hal at all, but that should be a pretty good measuring stick as to how good those guys are. Lets face it some of the best hunters are from the new england area , hal blood, R.G Bernier and that family it dont get any better or any more real than that cheif. So lets honor the fact we are lucky enough to share the same deer woods with fellas from our area. Not start rumors that someones jealous uncle started cause he knows a guy that knows a guy that told him so.

I think everyone knows the Benoits are stand up guys..I wouldn't want them tracking me I know that..LOL Don seems like an good guy and not trying to start any trouble with anyone. We all know who does what in the areas we hunt. All we can do is report the bad and hope eveyone is good. Other than that hunt your tails off

How is taking a track of land and posting where a pile of other guys were fortunate enough to access for free before QDMA got involved. This guy is promising goverment grants for christ sakes!!!! It makes my blood boil, oh yeah in his post he also says how he is doing it to grow bigger bucks, THINK THAT MY STATEMENT BEFORE WAS ALL TO MAKE KILLING A BIG BUCK EASIER!!!! am i wrong? be awful hard to convince me i am.
