I know Armand speaks highly of a guy up in the Rutland area.

I personally have had most of my work done at Wildlife Taxidermy and Sport in Auburn NH over the past 10 -14 years. They do great work, a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, check them out.

unfortunatly thats not completly true i think paying 250.00 for a 17 inch fish is pricey he did one other for me that came out awsome but this one not so much.

Shawn, Leon is by far the best I have seen. He is a perfectionist with his work and does everything the best way.I have a Ten point that he did back in 2000 and it still looks just as good as the day I got it. As far as fish go, I dont know anyone that I could recomend.

As far as fish I am kind of clueless. Not sure but I know Stearns in Claremont does them. He has been doing it a long time too.
As far as wild game, my work goes to Peter Lajoie..Best I have ever seen. Will do ANYTHING you want. If you can think of the mount he can make it..

Shawn,
If your happy with the mount, and the paint job is what you don't like. That can be re-done A word of advice get a replica next time, and I mean it they actually look more real then the real deal! and they will last longer with no oils bleaching thru (common with big trout and Salmon)

good luck

Hey Shawn. I know a guy in northern Vt. that does an absolutely fantastic job on fish. His name is Walt Driscoll. He owns a small sport/taxidermy shop in Island Pond, Vt. He takes a while to get it done but when you get it back you are guaranteed to be happy with it. He did a 5.5lb brown for me on a mantle stand. Came out awesome and he did both sides of the trout. Cost me about $250-$300. Here is his contact

Black River has some great trophy fish stocked in it I have caught some awesome fish from the covered bridge in cavendish up to the steel bridge which I think is still Cavendish there are great spots all the way up through ludlow. Cavendish is where I have had the most luck.
