I am a Vermont hunter looking to find Big Bucks in my home state. What counties would you reccomend hunting and scouting here?

Any place real North where the big woods are found, but would be easier to just move across the, we all would welcome you : ), I think it will be a short while longer before the real mature bucks start showing up near us in VT sounds like VT fish and game are trying to increase their trophys in the state by sampling these different antler restrictions.

We are settin up right across the river.... I have seen some nice Buck in V.T. and as Howard Jones would say Things will only get better..!!! Like some of the local Buck slayers I also hunt high in the great state of V.T. There are big free-standing mountians mid state that do have nice Oak flats and spruce swamps all holding Big 200lb V.T. Buck... Just gotta hike a bit to get away from the road-doggers..LOL.

A few places you could try would be the Island pond area. They get some hefty ones there..And the Concord area, I saw some big deer sign over there one year looking around. In the next 4 to 5 years I hope you will be able to get the big boys everywhere in your state..They are headed in a good direction for sure..

One of my relatives owns 80+/- acres in Sharon and Strafford, VT. I talked to him earlier this year and he said that he had seen a couple of decent bucks in the area over the last couple of years. A few years back I think he shot a 200+ lb., 9 pointer somewhere in Strafford. I used to hunt Sharon and Straffor with him, and the largest buck I saw taken was a 170 lb., 7 pointer. It had an impressive spread but short tines.
