Well it has been a long season for me..I had not seen much for deer this fall compared to usual years..Partly because of widespread food and because of the harsh winter last year. But on this day luck would finally come my way. We got a fresh snow the night before so I knew I was going tracking. We drove to one of my best spots and there was a track crossing the road. Didn't look like a monster but I didn't care at this point. So in we went. We had gone about 100 yards and see where he got with some girls, now it could get easy or hard..It took me a bit to figure out where they went with all the tracks. But then I finally got it and we kept on. We only went about a total of 300 yards and here come a doe trotting down a gully.Well right behind her was this nice 8 point buck. No hesitation I threw up the KP1 308 and fired..First one knocked him down but with him still moving I gave him another. I was shocked at the horns on him with such a young deer..I believe him to be 2.5 years old judging by his 135 pound body.(Fully cleaned).. But what a pretty buck and what a big weight off my shoulders. Unreal to think we bust our butt hunting everyday to have it all over so fast..I got pretty lucky running into them like that but I'll take a easy one any day of the week..
