Decided last night I would go out this morning after checking and seeing it was a setting moon. Headed out at 4:15 so I could be in my stand by 5:00. It was REAL foggy but very easy to walk into the stand with out making a sound because how bright the moon was. I got settled in, buckled up and waited for shooting time. About 5:45 I had a deer come out of the oaks across from me and feed down the power lines. It was too foggy to see what it was but looked like a good sized deer. Just before 6:00 I heard another deer moving around and eating acorns just inside the wood line. After a couple minuets I saw a flicker of a tail as it made its way into the power lines. I waited for it to go behind some brush, stood up and grabbed my bow. By now it was close enough to see it was a small 5 pointer, typical of the deer in this area (look at the last three buck I took all look exactly alike. The deer faced me and headed too directly underneath me. When it hit the tote road he made a left and walked about 10 yards and stopped. I was at full draw and I settled the pin on his off side leg. I squeezed the shot off and watched the tracer nock disappear right where I wanted it to. The buck mule kicked and took off. I could see blood on the arrow with my binos and I thought I heard him crash but I waited 45 minuets anyway. Just sat back, tightened my harness and closed my eyes for a while. When I got down, the arrow was covered in bright red foamy blood but I saw no visible blood around the arrow. I could see the tracks in the mud and followed it a ways still with no blood other than a couple of specks. I stayed on it and slowly tracked the deer for about 40 yards to where he jumped over a small tree. On the other side was a big piece of red tissue and loots of blood. I followed the blood another 10 yards to the farm road and the deer was pilled up on the other side. Blood was everywhere. On the ground, on both sides of the deer and out the mouth. Only thing I can think of that the rage cut something off and it plugged the hole. I did an autopsy and both lungs were cut and had big holes through them. I don't know but it was weird.
