Matthew Parrish

This was the highlight of my hunting career so far. He weighed 650lbs. and had a 42 1/2 inch spread. We were hunting a swamp not far from my house,it was October 22 and 80 degrees. There were people swimming at the local swimming hole. Myself and my second shooter (my father), and my wife (my guide)were on a small island in the swamp. We were trying to figure out the next spot to try, my wife started calling and walking around on the island. It wasn't 5 minutes and my father heard some suction cup noises from the other end of the swamp. I moved to the side a couple of feet to see this moose coming out of theswamp brush shaking his head. My father and I were moving around the swamp looking for a clear shot. The bull started to go back into the thick cover, and my wife did another cow call that turned him braodside at 175yrds. I shot just before he turned to go back into the swamp brush. The bullet hit its mark right through both lungs and he went down less than 20yrds. This was our families first moose permit, and it was awsome. My mother was fortunate enough to get drawn for the '08 season, and we can not wait.
