Armand & Aaron VT

May 2nd Hunter & Caller-Armand Camera Aaron Day May 1,2008 Vermont Gun-12 gauge Call Real Deal Glass and double diaphram Armand-18 pounds 9 inch beard 1/2 inch spurs Well it was second morning of the Vermont season. After such a great day the first day Aaron and I were thinking we may get 2 more. We went back up one ridge where Aaron got his the day before but no gobbles at daylight. So we ran down the ridge and headed to a new spot. On the way we spotted a nice bird strutting in a field. So we pulled up the road and got just on the other end of field about 170 yards from where we saw him. We just got near the field and a hen was right there. Luckily she did not spot us and we just dropped to the ground. After a minute or two I hit the mouth call and she started talking back. Then another hen started in and he gobbled. All of a sudden here comes the other hen running with him behind her. As soon as Aaron could see him I shot..We were in awe at how lucky we were.Could it get any better. WELL..We got out of there and headed to another town that we hunt. Got up near some farms and Gobble down in a ravine. We parked way down the road and made our way around. We had a little trouble finding him but finally he sounded off. And he was close. We dove for some trees and got ready. Here he came all pretty in the sun. Well he was coming so good that we were just going to let him get close. Then he saw something and wheeled and started running. Aaron threw a fast one at him but didn't lead enough and missed him clean. That was late in the day so our second double was gone..Still an great exciting day..
