Brendan Bean is a child who is crazy about hunting! I think he
is more into hunting than most adults sometimes. After an
unsuccessful day hunting in the rain and wind on Saturday, I
(Armand Archibald) had told his father, Bob, about a spot I
would almost guarantee Brendan could shoot a deer. Me and Bob met so I could show him this spot. We put up the shooting
rail but Bob was not sure that Brendan would be able to get
into the stand. As a backup, I showed him another spot on an Alfalfa field where I usually see several deer. Well, Bob was right! Brendan couldn't quite get into the stand so they headed to the other spot. As usual, right on time, a doe showed up just before last light. With wind blowing the wrong way, she got a whiff of the hunters and stood staring in their direction. Because of the distance (40 yards) and knowing how good this little boy can shoot, Bob told
Brendan to hold on the white patch and squeeze! When he did, Brendan shot and the doe dropped instantly. Although he is a young hunter, he is no stranger to deer hunting. This is Brendans 3rd consecutive, successful youth hunt. One very lucky boy! I was thrilled to hear the news. The doe ended up weighing 135 pounds. Congratulations Brendan on a great deer and excellent shot!
