This weekend had to be one of the coldest hunts I have had in a while. Bone and I went to Vermont for opening day of Muzzleloader / late bow season. Saw some does that morning but no bucks. That evening we sat the apple orchard
stand. Thinking we would see no bucks, I left my muzzleloader in the truck and we just brought the bows so we could try to harvest some does. Well, needless to say, this six point came in at 4pm. Bone was up first. When they decided to head away from us, Bone tried to make the shot. Bone was dead on but the buck dodged his arrow. Deer are very jumpy during this late season. So the next morning, I went back with my muzzleloader in hand. Right at first light, I snuck up to a
row of pines so I could check the apple trees with my binoculars. When I did, the same 6 point was standing under one of the apple trees. I hit him with the Nikon rangefinder and he was right at 120 yards. As soon as he got clear of some branches, I put the crosshairs behind the shoulder and folded him in his tracks. As usual, the good ol' Knight Disc was right on
